Transport to, from, and around Kep
The main road through Kep is a loop around the mountains and takes you by all the beaches. It takes about 35 minutes by motorcycle to see the whole area. The road travels back around the hills to where it started.
Most places rent motorcycles (About $5/day) and bicycles ($2/day), and either of these is probably the best way to get around town. You can learn to drive one of these 100cc motorcycles in about 1 minute, if you know how to drive a bicycle already. The have no gears and 2 hand brakes. A liter of gas costs about $1 and gets you up to 1 hour of drive time on a motorcycle.
From the Crab Market to the Kep beach is about a 10 minute walk. The beach isn’t the best beach for swimming in Cambodia, but it’s a great place to hang out.
You can also travel by motodup, a motorcycle taxi for one or two people. A trip costs anywhere from 50 cents U.S. and up.
We mostly use an app called PassApp to ride a tuk tuk (a 3 or 4 wheel taxi). You’ll need a phone, but it’s usually both the quickest and cheapest option. Tourist SIM cards are available very cheap, and include mobile internet use.
Tuk Tuk, a cart pulled by motorcycle, costs $1 and up, and you can easily fit 4 people in it.
The boat trip to Rabbit Island takes 30 minutes, and cost about $10 round trip from the Pier, or $25 for the whole boat.
Not Many Travel Agencies here. But most hotels can arrange most transport for you.
