On the hill above Vanna Bungalows and about 50 other hillside bungalows places is the Kep National Park.
A trail leads you around an 8 km trail.
Another entrance by Kep Gardens, which is in the Park. And several more entrances around the park, if you care to look. A few roads going in and around the Park as well.
And a new road, they cut out of the jungle, with good views of the ocean, town, and Vietnam.
You can sneak in any place around the park (about 25 kilometers around), and walk, but without a trail or road, you’re not going to get far.
Take your own supplies, as there are no places to buy food or drink on the trail. (except for Led Zep Cafe, which also has free maps of the park) It takes 2 to 3 hours if you want to do the whole trail, and more at a leisurely pace. And make sure you have time to get back before nighttime, around 6pm. No lights in the park.
$1 to park a car or .50 cents for a motorcycle at the entrance.
Lots of exotic birds, monkeys and other small animals that you won’t see in town. Signposts around the trails (believe courtesy of Led Zep Cafe). A couple of Buddhist Wats, and great views of Cambodia (and Vietnam)
